Bocce

Bocce practice for 2013 will begin on Thursday,May 30th.  We will practice at Donna Shepard from 6:00 - 7:00 in the evenings

What is Bocce?   Bocce is a competitive game of skill. It sharpens the reflexes and judgment – and stimulates good fellowship among players.   Bocce fans claim the game helps improve their bowling skills. The purpose of the game is to roll the bocce ball, a 4½ inch ball weighing about three pounds, as close as possible to the pallina, a 1¾ inch ball which is rolled down the alley first. The bocce ball rolled closest to the pallina scores.
How to play the game
There are a total of 8 bocce balls and 1 pallina. The pallina is the target for your bocce balls. There will be 2 teams playing – red (4 bocce balls) and green (4 bocce balls). Whichever team wins the coin toss will throw the pallina and set the target. Every player will try to throw the bocce ball closest to the pallina. The closest one will score points for the team.

Please make sure your athlete wears tennis shoes and brings a water bottle.  A parent or guardian must stay with their athlete during practice.
